Pedrag Rajkovic - GK - OVR 76 We start off the prediction this week with a name that many of you will never have heard of before in Rajkovic. When you think of the best defensive record in Ligue 1 you would instantly assume that PSG obtain it but it's actually Reims who have shocked everyone this year, only conceding 21 times in the 28 games played so far. This remarkable statistic has them as high as fifth this season and when you consider that they have only scored 26 you have to look at the defence and give them so much praise. Due to the circumstances of this one I simply had to have Rajkovic in the starting lineup despite his item rating.
Faitout Maouassa - LB - OVR 73 We could be in for a rather unorthodox Ligue 1 TOTS this year with several smaller clubs excelling. Rennes were another side to shock the country and currently sit in third position. Their defence played a big role in this success with Maoussa particularly standing out. The young French fullback picked up three goals and an assist alongside helping them to only concede 24 goals this season, joint with PSG for the second best record in the division.
Yunis Abdelhamid- CB - OVR 76 Ive already spoken about Reim's outstanding performance on the defensive side of the game this season so I won't go into the details again but with a record like that you are going to need a CB to lead the way and thats exactly what Abdelhamid has done. He is the only Reims player to have played every game this season so far and has lead the line superbly, gaining the highest average rating by quite some distance and even getting himself on the scoresheet three times, more than 10% of Reims overall goals.
Thiago Silva - CB - OVR 87 Onto a more familiar name now with Thiago Silva. The Brazilian has perhaps been less impressive than other seasons but I feel that he has still done enough to feature in TOTS. There are a lot of lower end defenders excelling but EA will want some big names and with Silva picking up an IF and a POTM item without actually scoring a goal I feel he has done more than enough for an inclusion here, especially upon PSG's impressive defensive record.
Marquinhos - CB - OVR 86 There were a couple of lower level wingbacks that I could have utilised for this position but I just couldn't see EA including too many lower rated items in the starting eleven and thus although Marquinhos has played some games in either CDM or CM I can still see his eventual TOTS item being a CB. I actually believe there are several better options to Marquinhos for this side but realistically we do need some higher rated items and he fits the bill
Dimitri Payet - LW - OVR 81 Although there was no real challenge to PSG defending the title once again it was Marseille who came the closest, currently sitting twelve points behind them. There are a few players that I feel make the cut for them but Payet is the most clear cut one after scoring nine goals and assisting another four from the left hand side.
Marco Verratti - CM - OVR 86 The Ligue 1 TOTS usually consists of a lot of PSG players and once again that is looking likely to be the case. Verratti is the first of three starting midfielders I have selected for this side and with him making five of the last six sides for EA it feels as though its simply a routine now. Verratti is the catalyst for PSG though and without him they wouldn't be able to have som many players attacking for them. He does a lot in front of the defensive and thats what is recognition is for once again and likely will continue for the next four or five years yet.
Neymar - CAM - OVR 92 With Ligue 1 potentially still having ten matches to play I am happy to take the punt on Neymar's playing time. The Brazilian has only featured in 15 of a potential 28 games this season but should he play the remaining matches I feel that he will have played enough. Those that Neymar did play he made a big impact within, scoring thirteen goals and providing six assists and with average ratings having him as high as 6.4 you simply can't ignore that. To put it into perspective the next best outfield player is Di Maria, with 6.14.
Angel Di Maria - RW - OVR 86 Talking of Di Maria, the Argentine had another successful season over in France for PSG helping lead them to what is looking like yet another title. His actual TOTS item's position is up for debate but with both IF's being RW I feel that EA will class it exactly that. ADM has provided assist after assist this season and currently sits on fourteen, seven higher than the next best in the division. In addition he has scored eight of his own, once again showcasing the talent he possesses.
Kylian Mbappe - ST - OVR 00 With eight special items to his name already, of which includes a TOTY item its not really a surprise that Mbappe features in my TOTS prediction. The Frenchman has had limited gametime with just 20 matches to his name but he still leads the golden boot race with 18 goals being scored. It's hard to think that the talented forward is only 20 years of age. We have the next decade to come hearing the name Mbappe especially with French football looking so promising for that era.
Wissam Ben Yedder - ST - OVR 83 It's safe to say that Monaco have once again underperformed this season with the outlet currently sitting in eighth position, which considering their early form they will be more than happy with. One player who hasn't flopped however is Wissam Ben Yedder, the tricky forward is currently joint top goalscorer in the division with eighteen goals to his name. An item which could easily be one of the most used on FIFA this year with five star week foot, high pace and impeccable shooting stats.
Steve Mandanda - GK - OVR 80 A familiar face occupies the second goalkeeping position with Steve Mandanda getting the nod from myself over other options. Mandanda was actually leading the way in terms of average rating for quite a long time in Ligue 1 before Rajkovic picked up his game to a level nobody knew he had. Although there are multiple sides with better records Marseilles defensive one is still respectable at 29 conceded in 28 games and if it wasn't for Mandanda there is no way it would be even close to that.
Gabriel - CB - OVR 76 Gabriel is a player who has picked up attention from various clubs around Europe due to his performances this season for Lille. With Chelsea and Arsenal both reportedly heavily interested. The youngster only has one goal to his name this season but his performances saw him receive a winter upgrade item from EA, who have obviously recognised his talent and with his average match ratings I wouldn't be surprised to see him make the cut here too.
Teji Savanier - CM - OVR 79 It's a long time ago now that a Giroud led Montpellier won the title in 2012 and Montpellier are a significantly different side now and look to be an established mid-table outlet in France. One of their more consistent players this year has been Savanier. The central midfielder has held their side together doing jobs at both ends of the pitch. Chipping in with six goals and two assists while also breaking up multiple attacks. He walks into this side.
Renato Sanches - CM - OVR 75 These predictions are so difficult to make with so much potentially changing should the remaining fixtures be played out. That alongside players like Sanches who have played less than 20 matches so far but picked up serious form before leagues were suspended. Sanches is a name with a lot of hype around him and with performances like those for Lille its easy to see why. He only has three goals and one assist but his overall performances have been spectacular with him being a joy to watch.
Denis Bouanga - LM - OVR 75 I actually hand selected Bouanga for a Community TOTS side back in 2017 so its good to see that the Gabon international is still performing well and now at the top level. St Etienne have seriously struggled this season, sitting just one place above relegation as things stands. A big reason for this is their inability to score goals, with just 29 being scored in 28 games. That figure would have been significantly worse had it not have been for Bouanga though with him obtaining ten goals and three assists, contributing to almost half of St Etienne's goals. Without him I dread to think where they would be in the table.
Victor Osimhen - ST - OVR 77 A name to remember for the future now, as you probably know with the addition of his future star item in the game but Osimhen has excelled in Ligue 1 this year with the Nigerian forward scoring 13 goals and providing four assists for Lille and also picked up player of the month for good measure. There is a lot of competition for these last few striker spots but I feel that Osimhen will get the nod over other options.
Moussa Dembele - ST - OVR 80 When it comes to average match ratings Dembele can feel hard done by with L'equipe snubbing him for both Delort and Osimhen but the Lyon striker has played his best football this season for me. In total he has found the net sixteen times, already beating his tally from last season with another ten games still to play. I feel that Lyon may have a job on their hands to keep onto Dembele much longer.
Eduardo Camavinga - CM - OVR 72 Now this one can be classed as a punt but there is a lot of hype surrounding this youngster, who is only 17 years of age. Infact EA only added him to the database mid way through the game but he has already developed into a first team player for Rennes, who are currently sitting in third position. At 17 years of age that is simply outstanding work and some believe that the influx of talented youth such as Camavinga is the reason that Rennes have done so well this season. Real Madrid are stongly linked to Camavinga all I can say is remember the name!
Idrissa Gueye - CDM - OVR 83 Back over to the PSG midfielders now and with how dominant the side is its no surprise that we have seen so many included really. Gueye made to move from Everton this summer and has since established himself as a regular in the middle for the French Champions performing to a high standard week in week out. Once again its the defensive side of the game that Gueye excels at allowing the likes of ADM, Neymar and Mbappe to do what they do best.
Raphinha - RM - OVR 79 With Rennes having such an impressive campaign I feel that they must have a couple of players included in the side. This would be their third I have selected and it's difficult to get even that many in. Niang is the other option from Rennes with 10 goals to his name but with strikers already being difficult to fit in I instead opted for Raphinha who got five goals and three assists this season.
Morgan Sanson - CM - OVR 79 With Marseille looking set to finish in second position this season I would expect to see at least three if not more of their players make the eventual TOTS. As to who that will be outside of Payet and Mandanda selecting them was actually quite difficult. Sanson is one who stands out to be on paper with his headliner item being hand picked by EA. Although that is solely based on early season form Sanson's five goals and four assists from CM is among the top in the division for that position and thus I feel he gets the nod.
Islam Slimani - ST - OVR 77 We have a few selections which are pushing it on games played but none more so than Slimani. The Algerian was exceptional at the start of the season but since has struggled to get gametime for various reasons. 14 starts is all he has managed but with nine goals and seven assists in that time going alongside a winter upgrade I feel that at a push he can still make the side.
