Wojciech Szczesny - GK - OVR 86 Although Juventus look set to pick up another title this season in Serie A when it comes to TOTS candidates they actually don't have many at all. Due to this, I believe that Szczesny, who was a tight call alongside a few other keepers will get the nod to boost their numbers. That being said the Polish stopper has still excelled between the sticks, helping Juventus to their impressive defensive record this year.
Theo Hernandez - LB - OVR 76 After failing to impress in Spain, at least to the standard that many expected of him, Hernandez opted to make the move out to Italy and now plays his trade for AC Milan. Milan's defensive record is nothing to be ashamed of with 34 goals conceded in 26 games but it's his attacking threat which makes Hernandez stand out with the Frenchman chipping in with five goals from the LB position.
Leonardo Bonucci - CB - OVR 86 With Chiellini being the rock in the middle of Juventus's defensive for the past decade, he was always likely to be missed with him being injured this season. Bonucci has taken the role well though and has helped towards their remarkable defensive record of 24 goals conceded in 26 games played. He comes fourth in Gazzetta's average ratings for CB's but I think that EA will include a Juventus defender and Bonucci feels the most likely of them.
Francesco Acerbi- CB - OVR 83 Although there were a lot of LB candidates for this side when it came to the right hand side I found it difficult to even mention someone from the Italian top division. As a result of that I have instead opted to go with three central defenders, all of which have excelled during the campaign. Lazio currently holds the best defensive record in the division with only 23 goals being conceded from their 26 matches played. Acerbi has been the stand out player in that back line and I would be very surprised if he fails to make EA's cut.
Juan Cuadrado- RB - OVR 83 Personally I still dont understand how Cuadrado is excelling as a RB given his time playing in a more advanced role but it seems as though the Colombian is playing some of his best football in that position and surprisingly enough its not down to his attacking threat. It gives Juventus an additional threat for sure but he also gives defensive cover. Cancelo was always likely to be a big loss to the Italian champions but Cuadrado has done superbly to not let that show.
Luis Alberto - CM - OVR 84 With Lazio performing as well as they have this season I am expecting to see a fair few pick up a spot in TOTS. There are a few obvious selections though, one of them being Luis Alberto. The Spaniard has been their playmaker this season, providing 12 assists in total, resulting in him leading the assist rankings as things stand
Alejandro Gomez - CAM - OVR 85 Onto a familiar face now with Gomez in line for his fourth consecutive TOTS inclusion. The Argentine has perhaps been quieter than previous seasons with just six goals and ten assists to his name but he has still played a large role in Atalanta's success this season and I am confident that it wont be overlooked by EA.
Sergej Milinkovic Savic - CM - OVR 85 With next to no wide players performing to a standard of note this season in Italy I made the decision to go for 4-3-3 formation over the standard 4-4-2 for this prediction. That left three central midfielders for the starting eleven and all three pick themselves from the big sides. Milinkovic Savic is the final of the three with an overall midfielders performance being what gets him the nod over other options. The Serbian has both four goals and four assists to his name which in comparison to others is actually quite good.
Cristiano Ronaldo - ST - OVR 93 Just the one TOTW item this year would suggest it has been a slow one for him but that is not the case here. The Portuguese striker has been consistent for the Italian outlet and although we are not seeing hat tricks left, right and center, like in Spain, he still plays a large role for them. In total he registered 21 goals, putting him second in the golden boot race and helping the to take a lead in the league.
Paulo Dybala - CF - OVR 88 Dybala is actually a very interesting case. With the Argentine often being forced out of the side due to various talented players that Juventus obtain he has had to make a mark from the bench regularly this season. Despite that limitation he has still shone, recording multiple world class performances and deciding several big fixtures with moments of madness. With just seven goals and four assists to his name he simply doesnt compare with other striker options but with the Argentine playing deeper when coming off the bench on a regular basis alongside him obtaining one of the higher average match ratings I can see him sneaking in.
Ciro Immobile - ST - OVR 86 Immobile ran away with the golden boot in Italy this season, recording an impressive 27 goals during his 26 matches for Lazio. On top of that he has also provided seven assists which in total has seen him provide an attacking contribution in 45% of Lazio's goals. A crazy statistic to have for a side performing so well which shows just how important the Italian is to the side. Lazio are just one point off the top of league leaders Juventus entering into the quarantine period.
Salvatore Sirigu - GK - OVR 84 Although there are several sides with better defensive records than that of Torino's they would be in a much worse position than they are if it was not for Sirigu between the sticks. The Italian stopper has saved them on numerousoccasions helping them to pick up several points this season which for a side battling against relegation is crucial. I could have ignored him in favour for one of the top sides keepers but Sirigu shouldn't be ignored here.
Stefan De Vrij - CB - OVR 84 Inter Milan are another side which hold a fantastic defensive record this season, with just 24 goals conceded in 25 games played. De Vrij has been one of the main names for defenders, especially from Serie A and we have seen a big improvement from him after a disappointing 2018/19 campaign from the Dutchman. On top of his defensive contributions he has also chipped in with two goals and three assists, putting the icing on the cake.
Domenico Berardi- RW - OVR 78 Berardi has been a big player for Sassuolo for multiple seasons now but is yet to pick up a TOTS item. It looks as though he could finally be about to receive one though after scoring nine goals and assisting another five from the right hand side of the field. With Sassuolo being a midtable side alongside the season not actually being finished yet those are some impressive figures for Berrardi and thus I feel that he can sneak into the side.
Radja Naingollan - CAM - OVR 83 Onto a FIFA fan favourite now with Naingollan. The competition was minimal when it came to midfielders with very few options actually standing out so when you consider that we are likely to see seven or eight included in this side there are always likely to be some forced ones in there. Which brings us to Naingollan. Although the Belgian has only recorded five goals and four assists from CAM this season his average rating is actually quite high. With that in mind alongside the fact he plays for a midtable side I am happy to take the punt on him.
Sofyan Amrabat - CM - OVR 72 For those who don't watch Italian football that often Amrabat will go under the radar for these sort of sides and with no attacking contributions to his name it is easy to see why but Amrabat has played a huge role in Verona's highly successful season which has them as high as 8th as things stand. Unfortunately for them Amrabat has already signed a deal with Fiorentina this summer which shows how much Amrabat does for the side. Gazzetta have him as the third highest average rating as well. Hes a punt as EA could easily overlook him but the Moroccan deserves a spot.
Josip Ilicic - ST - OVR 84 Atalanta once again performed to a high standard this season, showing that they will be around for a while and want to cement a spot as one of Italy's main sides. Ilicic once again played a large role in their attacking brilliance, scoring 17 goals and assisting another 5 in the 21 games he featured in. With five performance based special items already this season Ilicic's TOTS item is going to be a very usable one.
Romelu Lukaku - ST - OVR 85 With the Belgian losing traction for Manchester United they decided to ship him out to Italy, from which Inter Milan happily took him on board. The Belgian has since looked like a completely different player, scoring regularly and developing into one of Inters main players this season. He has registered 17 domestic goals to his name alongside doing well in Europe too. United will be kicking themselves that they couldn't get Lukaku playing to this standard.
Thomas Strakosha - GK - OVR 82 I almost ignored Strakosha which when you consider how well Lazio have been defensively this season would have been a bold statement but with midfielders especially being difficult to predict I am happy to go with three goalkeepers instead and thus the Lazio man has to make the cut. As previously stated Lazio obtain the best defensive record in Italy this season with just 23 goals conceded. The goalkeeper is always going to play a big role in that statistic and thus makes my side.
Chris Smalling - CB - OVR 80 Manchester United have seen several players thrive in Italy after they have let them go this season. Smalling is one of them and has looked like a completely different player since making the move to Roma. Especially in the early parts of the season the English defender picked up a lot of hype for his performances. Roma have not done as well as they would have hoped but Smalling has impressed for them at the back. Kolarov is the alternate option but with the Serbian being purely attacking contributions I feel that Smalling was the better option.
Robin Gosens - LWB - OVR 76 Robin Gosens can feel very hard done by for not picking up at least one IF this season, personally I believe he should have at least three right now but with the German's position being the main question it could be a large contributing factor as to why he doesn't. That being said when it comes to TOTS there is no doubt about it, Gosens should make the side. With seven goals and five assists he beats many out and out LM's and I still believe that he classes as a LWB.
Dejan Kulisevski - RW - OVR 70 Although we were very limited in winger options from Italy this season there were a couple we could choose from and I fully expect to see a couple included. Parma have done well this season and sitting in ninth position will speak wonders of how they have developed these past few seasons. There are a couple of options for TOTS contenders but with wingers being short as it is I feel that Kulisevski can get the nod with his five goals and seven assists.
Joao Pedro - ST - OVR 76 The competition for this position is very high after the obvious forward selections. We come to the likes of Martinez, Dzeko, Zapata and Caputo, all of whom I have snubbed in order to include Pedro. The main reasoning behind this is how important Pedro is to his side. Most the other options have another player chipping in with more contributions than them but Pedro leads his sides line and has bagged an impressive 16 goals for 12th place Cagliarli.
