Last week's score: 12/23
Squad Link: https://www.futhead.com/20/squads/132476/
Jan Oblak - GK - OVR 91 With neither Bundesliga nor Ligue 1 offering the usual options for goalkeepers, it was a lot more difficult to select them this week. The first one I have is Atletico Madrid's Oblak after he picked up MOTM for a few crucial saves in their 2-0 win over Bilbao.
Chey Dunkley - CB - OVR 70 We could finally be in line for our first SIF of the year and it comes with a completely unexpected name in Chey Dunkley. For the second time this season, the CB has managed to score twice and with him falling under the gold category now due to his first IF, I can't see EA overlooking him.
Ben Chilwell - LB - OVR 79 We are yet to see two players get an IF from the same game this year, but with Leicester winning 9-0 away at Southampton, this is a real test for EA not to include at least two. I have ignored Vardy's hat trick, but with Chilwell also getting a goal, two assists and a clean sheet, you just can't ignore that for a defender.
Jesus Navas - RB - OVR 82 For the second week running I have decided to use Navas in my prediction and it is for a similar reason as of the snub last week. The Spaniard picked up one assist from RB in Sevilla's 2-0 win with MARCA awarding him a perfect three-star match rating for his performance.
Christian Pulisic - LM - OVR 79 We always knew what Pulisic had in his locker but the American has found himself largely out of favour this season for Chelsea. He made a claim for his spot this weekend though, scoring three goals in Chelsea's 4-2 home win over Burnley.
Omar Mascarell - CDM - OVR 78 We were ridiculously short on midfielder options this week and thus I have had to take a punt on a couple, the first being Mascarell who picked up MOTM with a 1.5 match rating from Kicker for his performance in Schalke's 0-0 draw with Dortmund.
Paul Lasne - CAM - OVR 75 Although I do expect EA to throw in a surprise or two, specifically in the midfield due to the lack of big names I am happy to go with the players I think have a strong chance of TOTW rather than punting big names for the sake of it. Lasne gets in after claiming an 8/10 from L'Equipe for scoring one of two goals for Brest as they won 2-0 with 10 men.
Ayoze Perez - RM - OVR 78 The whole Leicester side have a shout for TOTW after their record breaking 9-0 away win over Southampton, but realistically there will be a maximum of two players given the nod by EA. I believe the favourite will be Ayoze Perez with the Spaniard scoring three from RM and was awarded the official MOTM award.
Mauro Icardi - ST - OVR 85 For the second week running it was Di Maria who stood out for PSG, with the Argentine picking up a huge 9/10 from L'Equipe. But with him receiving an IF only last week, it rules him out for this one. Due to that, we go for the second best option, which in this case is Icardi, with the forward scoring twice in PSG's 4-0 win.
Carlos Vela - ST - OVR 83 Bizarrely we are still without a Record Breaker Vela, suggesting that EA are waiting until the end of the season (if ever) considering that Vela is still adding goals to that impressive tally of his. The Mexican national added another two this weekend and also grabbed an assist during a 5-3 win for Los Angeles over LA Galaxy in El Trafico.
Luis Muriel- ST - OVR 80 Although I wouldn't be overly surprised to see Muriel snubbed in favour of Illicic, I just can't ignore the fact that Muriel grabbed a hat trick, even if two of those goals were from the spot. What I can guarantee though is that Atalanta will be picking up an IF after they ran away with a 7-1 win over Udinese.
Ben Foster- GK - OVR 80 Should Ben Foster get the nod it will be the first goalkeeper IF from a Premier League match, which after seven weeks shows how well keepers have to perform in the top division of England for recognition in comparison to the likes of both Germany and France. The English keeper was vital for Watford, making five saves to keep his clean sheet in their 0-0 draw with Bournemouth.
Ferro - CB - OVR 78 As a whole this week the subs bench looks decent in comparison to what it has previously been, with the one exception being Ferro. That being said with the only goal of the game I would expect Ferro to make the cut with limited players opposing him.
Jean Paul Boetius - LM - OVR 78 Boetius looks to get one step close to the recently released Bundesliga league SBC item he already has after the Dutchman picked up player of the week for his performance in Mainz's 3-1 home win over Koln, with both a goal and an assist to his name.
Calvin Stengs - CM - OVR 75 AZ Alkmaar confirmed that they should be taken seriously this year with a 4-0 away win over PSV, putting them into second, ahead of PSV by doing so.Stengs was awarded player of the week for his performance in that match, recording two assists.
Yusuf Yazici - RW - OVR 78 As par usual the French league gave multiple options for us but one of the better ones comes with Lille's Yazici. The Turkish winger was involved in all three of their goals, scoring once and assisting another two.
Aleksandar Mitrovic - ST - OVR 78 Although this selection is from a midweek match the fact that Mitrovic is a gold item should help his cause. Mitrovic scored all three of Fulhams goals as they recorded a narrow 3-2 home win over Luton a win which pushes them just outside the play off spots.
Karl Toko-Ekambi - ST - OVR 79 Ekambi has already been snubbed this year from what was seemingly a very strong position and hopefully history won't repeat itself here with the Cameroon striker scoring another two goals for Villarreal in a 4-1 home win over Alaves for them.
Amahl Pellegrini - LM - OVR 62 EA have been very stingy on IFs for bronze items and thus after we saw three hat tricks from them ignoring them all is tough. Pellegrini is the man getting the nod from me, simply due to being a midfielder rather than a striker which I feel gives him the advantage.
Mark Diemers - CAM - OVR 72 With both sides desperately needing three points as they fight against relegation it will be the Fortuna fans who will be celebrating, after their side came away with a convincing 4-1 home win. Diemers scored three of those four goals making him a shoe-in for this side.
Florinel Coman - LW - OVR 69 This was the last spot I had to select and with multiple players either scoring three or assisting and scoring two each it was a tough call to make in the end I went for Coman who scored twice and assisted another two from LW. I largely went for him due to it being a Saturday game and the fact he is silver not bronze.
Jose Kante - ST - OVR 69 There were a lot of big results this week with several sides scoring seven or more goals. Legia were another, scoring seven without reply. Of those seven Kante scored three and although he missed a penalty I can still see him making the cut.
Kodjo Fo-Dah Laba - ST - OVR 73 With Al Ain being a new addition to the game and them also being the only side in their league, it is unknown how often EA are willing to include them in TOTW. But Kodjo put in a performance which simply can't be ignored. The Togo striker scored an impressive four goals alongside also assiting once in Al Ain's 7-1 away win.
