FIFA 20 Team of the Week 5 Predictions

Last week's score: 13/23
Formation: 3-4-1-2
Squad Link:

Kaspar Schmeichel - GK - OVR 83 It was a huge game for both Denmark and Switzerland who sat 2nd and 3rd respectively in their qualifying group, and whoever managed to win this match would take a major advantage into the final games. Denmark were the side to come out on top with a 1-0 win, via a Poulsen goal. But it was Schmeichel they have to thank, making a total of five saves to keep his clean sheet intact.

Martin Hinteregger - CB - OVR 80 The defensive side of this side was ridiculously difficult to select with next to no options available for selection. In the end it was a case of just selecting players who score or taking punts. Hinteregger managed to score in Austria's 3-1 win but he is fair from an obvious choice.

Leonardo Bonucci - CB - OVR 86 Italy made it seven wins from seven and in turn secured qualification for next years European championship. I can see an Italian player making it for that alone and Bonucci could be the lucky man after he assisted one of the two goals alongside helping keep the clean sheet.

Lucas Digne - LB - OVR 83 I did say that I would be taking a punt or two on defenders and Digne couldn't fall into that category anymore. I am going simply from L'Equipe awarding him a 7/10 which was the joint highest for France in their 1-0 win over Iceland. L'Equipe is often used for France's international matches as well and if they do the same again this week I can see him sneaking his way in.

Georginio Wijnaldum - CM - OVR 84 The first of two Dutch players making this side is Wijnaldum and I expect both to happen with it being for separate games. Wijnaldum's comes during Netherlands second fixture from which they beat Belarus 2-1 away from home with the Liverpool midfielder scoring both the goals.

Ilkay Gundogan - CDM - OVR 84 With Can being sent off for Germany early on, it could have been a hard day at the office for Germany when they played Estonia, but it wasn't to be. The Germans put in a convincing win, coming away as 3-0 winners, with several players putting in an impressive shift. None better than Gundogan though, who managed two goals and one assist from CDM.

Miralem Pjanic - CM - OVR 86 It's usually Dzeko which we see pick up an IF from International weeks for Bosnia but we have a nice surprise in store with Pjanic being the likely candidate instead this time around. The Bosnian midfielder scored two of their four goals in a 4-1 home win over Finland.

Denis Cherysev - LW - OVR 79 Another side that confirmed qualification this week was Russia and with the second result being a 5-0 win the IF is an obvious choice. That is after Cherysev scored twice and assisted another two from LW.

Harry Kane - ST - OVR 89 I tried to ignore Monday night fixtures with them being unpredictable for EA in the past, but with England recording a 6-0 win, I just couldn't ignore this one. Barkley's two goals and one assist narrowly misses out for me with all the other midfielders already in the side and instead we have Kane who picked up one goal and three assists.

Robert Lewandowski - ST - OVR 89 It was always going to be a case of how long before Lewandowski picks up his IF and in turn, makes his POTM item less valuable in the process. Well, unfortunately for those who did the SBC, it looks as though the IF could be on the way already. The Polish forward scored all three of their goals in a 3-0 win away at Latvia and also went on to provide both assists in their second fixture of the week.

Romelu Lukaku - ST - OVR 85 It was always likely to be a free for all when Belgium hosted San Marino and we got exactly what we expected with the host running away as 9-0 winners. The IF is as difficult as ever to select with goals and assists coming from just about every position possible but I have opted for Romelu after he scored twice and assisted another.

Weston McKennie - CM - OVR 76 USA's turn to record a massive result with them hosting Cuba and coming away with seven goals without reply. McKennie is the obvious choice for TOTW after scoring three and assisting another.

Junya Ito - RM - OVR 75 With this one I have to hope that EA has gone as in-depth as myself as assists on the Asian games are not always easy to find. But upon finding out that Ito provided three assists during Japan's 6-0 win over Mongolia, he looks like a strong shout for TOTW.

John McGinn - CM - OVR 75 Another San Marino match, another opposing IF. This time it was Scotland's turn to have some fun, running away as 6-0 winners. McGinn has impressed domestically this year and his form continued for Scotland, scoring three of those six goals.

Ruslan Malinovsky - CM - OVR 79 Now that Malinovsky is playing his football over in Italy for Atalanta, this potential IF is actually one to look more forward to. The Ukrainian scored both Ukraine's goal in their 2-0 win over Lithuania, retaining them a five-point lead over Portugal.

Memphis Depay - ST - OVR 84 We had a potential shock on the cards with NI taking the lead away at Netherlands in the 75th minute, but it just wasn't to be in the end. The Dutch side struck straight back with Depay before again scoring late on in both the 91st and 94th minutes. Depay also scored the final goal and with two goals to his name looks set for that IF.

Alan Kardec - ST - OVR 77 There were a few players managing to score four goals this week which made the selection process rather easy when it came to forwards, the first to manage the feat was Alan Kardec, who scored four goals for his side in their 4-1 away win.

German Cano - ST - OVR 78 The strikers were dominated by domestic fixtures this week with several putting in strong shifts. Another of those was Cano, who managed to score three over in Colombia with Medellin coming away with a 3-0 win as a result.

Jamie Maclaren - ST - OVR 69 It's unusual to see five strikers on the reserves, and thus one is likely to miss out. But I am not willing to take a punt on who that is, and thus I have included all five. The first is Maclaren, who scored three of Australia's five goals in their 5-0 win over Nepal.

Nicky Maynard - ST - OVR 66 The first of two players to make the cut from the English Lower Leagues is Maynard. The Mansfield striker scored three goals as they ran away with a 6-1 home win over nine-man Oldham.

Marcus Forss - ST - OVR 63 Potentially too early to say, but as things stand, this match could easily have been classed as a relegation six-pointer with both sides being a long way off safety before the start of the match. Wimbledon will be full of confidence now though after recording a 4-1 away win from which loanee striker Forss scored three within.

Kim Shin Wook - ST - OVR 71 A few years back there would have been some serious hype surrounding this potential IF but in terms of FIFA Kim Shin Wook has dropped off dramatically and annoyingly also looks set to snub Son Heung Min's two goals and one assist after the Korean scored an impressive four goals in South Korea's 8-0 win.

Yang Xu - ST - OVR 65 We end the prediction with yet another ridiculous scoreline, from which there were many this week. China ran away as 7-0 winners over Guam from which Yang Xu scored four and assisted one within. They don't come much clearer than this one.
