FIFA 19 Team of the Week 35 Predictions

Last week's score: 12/23
Formation: 3-4-1-2
Squad Link:

Antonio Mirante - GK - OVR 80 With Juventus already winning the title, they have given some youth players more of a running recently but against Roma that was not the case with the main side being played. Roma was up to the task however and managed a 2-0 home win. Mirante was awarded MOTM with an impressive match rating of 8/10 from Gazzetta for making multiple saves to keep their clean sheet intact.

Diego Godin - CB - OVR 90 With a lack of defensive options, I have decided to take a punt on the big name of Godin. Although he didn't contribute offensively during Atletico's 1-1 draw with Sevilla he was awarded MARCA's MOTM with a perfect three-star rating and that is often enough for EA to include a player so hopefully it will once again.

Fabian Schar - CB - OVR 75 There is a chance that Schar will end up making the TOTS in which case this IF won't happen but if he doesn't and I don't think he will then this IF should have increased chances. The Swiss defender scored one of Newcastle's four goals in their comfortable 4-0 win, claiming MOTM in the process.

Harry Maguire - CB - OVR 82 I am fully expecting one or two defenders to appear from out of the blue in EA's eventual side with very few performing to a noteworthy standard. Maguire was the official MOTM in Leicester City's 0-0 draw with Chelsea which is why he gets the nod from me but he is a punt, to say the least.

Riyad Mahrez - LM - OVR 85 With Manchester City holding their nerve to lift the Premier League title for the second consecutive year they were always going to feature in TOTW but with TOTS coming up their options were also limited. Coming from behind to secure a 4-1 win over Brighton gave them the three points and the two candidates look to be Mahrez with a goal and an assist or Silva with two assists. The OTW factor leads me to Mahrez though and with a fantastic goal to his name he looks to be the favourite.

Mark Noble - CDM - OVR 76 Despite it being the Premier League likely to pick up the next TOTS there are several options for the upcoming week for an IF. Noble is another after he scored twice for West Ham in their 4-1 away win.

Thomas Delaney - CDM - OVR 79 The title race in Germany is now set to go down to the final game with Munich only managing a point against Leipzig. Due to that, it was crucial that Dortmund went on to pick up all three and thanks to a goal and an assist from Delaney they did exactly that. Munich is still favourites but Dortmund does have that outside chance now.

Joaquin - RM - OVR 82 La Liga actually offered very little in terms of options this week so with Joaquin scoring twice he becomes one of the favourites to make the cut, despite the midfield being the most competitive for spots. MARCA awarded him a perfect three-star rating with his brace allowing Betis to come away with a 2-1 win.

Andrea Belotti - ST - OVR 82 I think De Silvestri can feel hard done by here with the RWB getting two assists and a 7.5 to his name but from the ratings alone there is only one player in contention and that is a familiar face in Belotti. The striker scored two of three Torino goals in their 3-2 win at home to Sassuolo and picked up POTW with an 8.5 for doing so.

Michy Batshuayi - ST - OVR 81 Bournemouth are known for having exciting games this season and when they travelled to the Palace we saw no fewer than eight goals. Batshuayi scored two of those, with Palace ending up as 5-3 winners. His OTW item is also a factor in this selection, especially with the likes of PEA being ruled out due to a likely TOTS item.

Dusan Tadic - LW - OVR 80 Barring a miracle for PSV who need Ajax to not only lose but to gain 14 GD on them, Ajax secured the title with a 4-1 home win over Utrecht, showing no signs of a hangover from their Champions League bottle. Tadic scored twice and assisted another on the day but Ziyech was officially the MOTM with no attacking contributions. For me, Tadic is the only player I can realistically include though.

Tomas Koubek - GK - OVR 78 Another week, another Ligue 1 goalkeeper. Once again this one is deserved rather than L'Equipe ratings forcing them upon us. Although the Rennes stopper didn't keep a clean sheet he did help secure the point in their 1-1 draw, saving the last minute penalty to keep the scores level. That penalty save only adds on to the other eight saves he managed throughout the match too.

Christopher Jullien - CB - OVR 75 Toulouse made it one point closer to securing safety via a 0-0 draw this weekend. The defensive ability shown was the reason they kept their clean sheet with Jullien especially standing out from the back four. L'Equipe awarded him a 7/10 and with a lack of gold defensive options that could help see him in.

Daniel Didavi - CAM - OVR 80 I am unsure on the position of Didavi seeing as though he came off the bench but I would imagine he operated in his usual CAM role. Regardless of the position he played, I am sure that he will be included in the side after picking up Kicker's POTW after his goal and assist helped Stuttgart to secure a 3-0 win.

Salomon Kalou - LM - OVR 79 We have seen Kalou snubbed by EA on numerous occasions this season and with the Bundesliga having just one fixture left it looks as though this may be his final chance for some recognition. The Ivorian winger scored twice in an enthralling 4-3 away win over Augsburg, claiming MOTM with a 1.5 match rating.

Maxwell Cornet - RW - OVR 75 Big games often end up disappointing but that was not the case with Lyon travelling to Marseille. The pair played out a five-goal thriller, with three of those going the way of the away team. Cornet scored two of those goals and for doing so was given an 8/10 from L'Equipe, alongside teammate Ndombele, but with the latter currently in TOTS Cornet seems the obvious choice.

Aleksandar Prijovic - ST - OVR 75 There are two players highly in contention from Al-Ittihad's 6-1 home win but with Prijovic scoring a hat trick I can't ignore him despite Villanueva's brace and assist from LM also standing out. I fully expect one of the two to miss out with the other getting in and hopefully it goes in favour of my prediction.

Borja Iglesias - ST - OVR 78 Iglesias has been knocking on the door for a few weeks now, regularly scoring twice for Espanyol. Once again he managed two goals but with less competition and the fact he has consistently been scoring for the past month now I can see EA finally giving him the recognition he deserves and including him in TOTW.

Neil Etheridge - GK - OVR 72 Although I don't expect Etheridge to end up claiming a TOTS item I do feel that he has done enough to warrant one. Once again his performance helped Cardiff pick up points with an impressive 10 saves to his name in order to keep a clean sheet against Man United. He picked up MOTM, despite Laing scoring twice which shows how important he was.

Elias Mar Omarsson - ST - OVR 65 It was a nine-goal thriller which saw Excelsior come out on top as 5-4 winners over Heracles. Both sides had strikers scoring three times but with Dalmau coming from the losing side I expect the IF to go the way of Omarsson, despite Dalmau actually picking up MOTM.

Peniel Mlapa - ST - OVR 68 The Eredivisie was simply a goal fest this weekend with players scoring for fun all over the shot. Another with three was Mlapa, helping Venlo to a 4-2 away win against Zwolle. I expect Mlapa to be the front runner for TOTW here.

Alvaro - ST - OVR 68 Sometimes the best games occur from two sides playing without pressure and that was exactly the case with Almeria hosting Elche with the hosts coming away as 5-3 winners. Alvaro scored three of those five goals and thus makes TOTW.

Gianmarco Zigoni - ST - OVR 69 Venezia picked up a vital three points this weekend allowing them to secure a relegation playoff match rather than automatic relegation. This chance was largely down to Zigoni of whom managed to score a hat trick in their 3-2 win.
