Last week's score: 12/23
Hugo Lloris - GK - OVR 88 When it came to the Spurs IF it was between both Eriksen and Lloris with different sources giving different MOTMs. Had the midfield not have been as packed as it was I probably would have opted for Eriksen but that anything but the case this week. Lloris was harmed by the fact his clean sheet was taken away late on but with a penalty save and nine other saves to his name it was quite the performance by the French stopper regardless.
Gaya - LB - OVR 79 We have been blessed with relatively simple defensive picks in recent weeks but we went back to the usual with them being few and far between for this weeks side. Gaya is a punt due to the fact he picked up three stars from MARCA for his defensive performance in Valencia's 0-0 draw with Real Sociedad
Aymeric Laporte - LB - OVR 83 With Manchester City playing twice this week it gave the opportunity for them to pick up a couple of IFs and with them taking the lead in the title race twice its something I expect to happen. The first coming from their 2-0 win over Everton on Wednesday from which Laporte opened the scoring just before half time, alongside helping keep a clean sheet.
Thiago Silva - CB - OVR 88 I could have quite easily ignored the French league this week with nobody standing out apart from Benitez who won't be in due to his last IF coming in Week 20. EA won't ignore the division though and thus we punt Silva. There were a lack of defensive options to choose from and so with Silva making TOTW with a 7/10 and EA's history of choosing him when he does I am happy to take the punt here
Raheem Sterling - LW - OVR 85 Obviously, it was Aguero who claimed all the headlines with a superb hat trick in City's 6-0 statement win over Chelsea but seeing as though he picked up an IF last week he can't be included this time around. That being said there is no way that this match is ignored and thus we go to Sterling who scored twice and won the penalty which Aguero tucked away.
Paul Pogba - CM - OVR 88 Since OGS took over as manager of Manchester United we have seen a completely rejuvenated Paul Pogba. The Frenchman has been vital week in week out and since the entrance of OGS I would go as far to say he has been the most influential player in the premier league. United recorded a 3-0 win over Fulham this week with Pogba scoring two of those three.
Bruno Fernandes - CM - OVR 83 The Portuguese league is becoming an extremely good cheap division to build a side in with several options being meta now with the introduction of flashbacks and future stars. The first IF of Fernandes when you look at the stats was a well-rounded CAM with just defending below 80 and after the Sporting CM bagged himself another two goals in their 3-1 away win he looks set for another stat increase.
Pizzi - RM - OVR 83 I'm not even exaggerating when I say that half this side could have been from Benfica. I struggled to select just one in the end but it had to be done and thus we are left with Pizzi who scored once and assisted another three, claiming MOTM with a 9/10 from Abola in the process. We could see another IF from the match seeing as Benfica won 10, yes 10-0 but I can EA keeping it at one.
Younes Belhanda - CM - OVR 80 The Turkish division seems to be picking up an IF each week as of late and once again I can see that continuing with Belhanda. Galatasaray managed a 3-1 home win with the Moroccan scoring two of those three goals. He picked up a high Whoscored rating which appears to be EA's source for Turkey right now.
Mata - ST - OVR 76 Getafe have been rather unfortunate when it comes to picking up IFs with their players being snubbed time and time again but with a lack of options in the forward department this week I can't ignore Mata's brace. The Spaniard has been scoring for fun this season and another two were added to his personal tally when Getafe beat Celta Vigo 3-1.
Edin Dzeko - ST - OVR 85 With a lack in both big-name strikers and Italian options, Dzeko fills both those requirements. The Bosnian only claimed a goal and an assist during Roma's 3-0 win but he was highly influential in that result and was behind everything they did. Gazzetta awarded him with a 7.5 match rating and MOTM which is why I believe that he will get the nod over Kolarov.
Alban Lafont - GK - OVR 77 Although you could look at Fiorentina's 0-0 draw with Napoli as being a quiet match with only seven shots on target between the two sides Lafont still played a huge part in keeping the scores level, making four saves in total to keep his side level. Gazzetta rewarded his efforts with an 8/10 pretty much lockin his spot down in the process.
Dante - CB - OVR 80 I mentioned that I felt it was too soon for another Benitez IF but that being said it was a huge win for Nice, recording a 1-0 win over Lyon and with Ligue 1 offering very little I would be surprised to see Nice overlooked. Dante was the second best option with a 7/10 which in terms of L'Equipe is a decent CB rating.
Nicolai Muller - RM - OVR 77 Back in FIFA 17 Nicolai Muller became a very usable item after picking up two IFs with his pace always being a factor it helped to boost the shooting stats up to a standard which you would be confident in using. It would be a similar case here should he go on to pick up another with the first IF unlikely to be used that much. Either way with two goals in a 2-0 win he deserves his spot in the side.
Angel Mena - RM - OVR 72 The first of three players which look set to pick up a SIF from originally silver items is Angel Mena. There were a few decent performances in Mexico this weekend which gave us a few options to choose from, I can't look past Mena's two goals and one assist though, making him player of the week in the process.
Milot Rashica - LW - OVR 76 There were a few players to pick up a perfect 1 match rating from Kicker this week, one of those was Rashica who managed the accolade after scoring twice for Werder Bremen in a convincing 4-0 home win over Augsburg.
Billy Sharp - ST - OVR 70 Had Sharp not already have received an IF and thus putting him on the reserves I probably would have left him out seeing as the game ended in a draw, especially with Sheffield United leading 3-0 with just 10 minutes to go. At the end of the day with Sharp scoring three goals for his side, what else can he realistically do? With him now being a gold I just can't ignore three goals.
David Selke - ST - OVR 77 It's rare that I decide to include a striker for just a goal and an assist but sometimes match ratings take over and with Selke receiving a perfect 1 from Kicker he becomes almost impossible to ignore. It came with Hertha managing a 3-0 win away at Gladbach, a result which helps to push them toward European football.
Wilfried Kanga - ST - OVR 68 I mentioned that I could have easily ignored the French division this week yet still have ended up including three players. Kanga would have missed out if I could find another player for this position but with the joint highest rating of the week (8/10) after scoring both Angers goals in their 2-1 win, he ends up making the cut.
Robert Skov - RM - OVR 72 There has to be some bigger sides looking at Skov now, the 22-year-old RM has now scored 21 goals in 21 games along with five assists, after adding another three goals and one assist to his name in Copenhagen's 6-1 home win on Sunday.
Jhon Cordoba - ST - OVR 74 We end the week with what usually occurs in hat tricks, the first of three on the reserves with exactly that is Cordoba, who picked up player of the week in the second division of Germany for his three goals in Koln's 4-1 home win.
Youssef En-Nesyri - ST - OVR 72 With La Liga being so tight at the bottom half of the table three points for Leganes helped move them up to 11th in the table. It came courtesy of a 3-0 win from which En-Nesyri managed to score a hat trick. Making him likely to become Leganes's second IF of the year.
Che Adams - ST - OVR 71 Adams has been snubbed on a couple of occasions before and actually missed out after scoring three as well. That was in a highly competitive week though and Birmingham ended up drawing the match. This time they edged out a 4-3 win and with Adams scoring another three goals I can't see him missing out again.
