FIFA 19 Team of the Week 21 Predictions

Last week's score: 14/23
Formation: 3-4-1-2
Squad Link:

Gianluigi Donnarumma - GK - OVR 82 With the constantly high standard of performances set by Donnarumma, it is no surprise that he keeps being mentioned in these predictions. This would be the third time EA have selected him should he end up making the cut, and with seven saves in a 1-1 draw, which saw him pick up an 8/10 match rating, I can't see why he wouldn't.

Will Orban - CB- OVR 79 Not the most exciting of SIFs, but its one that is inevitably going to happen on Wednesday. The Hungarian defender scored twice in a 3-0 home win for Leipzig, picking up MOTM with a 1.5 rating for doing so. Halstenberg also impressed with both a goal and an assist, but it will be Orban with the recognition.

Gabriel Paulista - CB - OVR 82 As far as punts go, this one is up there. Villarreal managed a 2-2 draw with Barcelona and both CBs picked up three stars from MARCA. With a lack of option in both La Liga and defense, I am taking the punt and killing two birds with one stone. It's a push, but hopefully it pays off.

Jerome Roussillon - LB - OVR 78 There was hype surrounding Roussillon once before, with everyone expecting the Frenchman to be included. But for some reason he ended up getting snubbed that week. Hopefully the same doesn't happen this time as he will become one of the best Bundesliga LBs should he make the side. He picked up the assist on the only goal of the game which saw Wolfsburg beat Hertha, 1-0.

Gervinho - LW - OVR 77 We could see Ronaldo finally pick up an IF for his two goals and one assist, but I am going a different route with this one. Firstly, Parma will be thrilled with a point against Juventus, while the Old Lady will be disappointed to say the least. Furthermore, although it was close, Gervinho was officially MOTM. With 0.01 of a rating higher, I am happy to take his brace over Ronaldo.

Eden Hazard - LW - OVR 91 After an embarrassing 4-0 defeat to Bournemouth, Chelsea bounced back in style with a 5-0 win over Huddersfield. Hazard and Higuain both found themselves scoring twice with the Belgian going on to pick up MOTM. With a lack of midfielders and a ridiculous amount of strikers, I can see the IF going to Hazard, despite the fact Higuain has an OTW and Hazard already has two IFs.

Alexandr Golovin - CAM - OVR 79 Ligue 1 was a difficult league to select from this week but with Monaco picking up an important win when it comes to their safety, I can see one of Golovin or Fabregas getting the nod. With Golovin owning an OTW item, I can see it going his way though, especially if Fabregas gets a winter OTW item, as I expect him to.

Pizzi - RM - OVR 83 The first of two Benfica players I have selected is Pizzi. The Portuguese man was influential in both wins with a goal and assist in both games. It is his performance in the first of those two wins which are getting him the nod from me here, with A Bola awarding him an 8/10 for it.

Sergio Aguero - ST - OVR 89 You just can't count Man City out of the title race despite multiple slip-ups putting them some distance behind leaders Liverpool. Three points when hosting Arsenal was now crucial due to that, and they delivered, winning 3-1. Aguero scored all three of those goals and simply looked unstoppable.

Moussa Dembele - ST - OVR 75 Usually, I would have just gone with Lopes for the IF here. But with him picking up his first in TOTW 19, I can't see another quite this soon. On top of that, I doubt that Lyon will be ignored after shocking PSG with a 2-1 win, and thus I have to take the punt on Dembele who scored the winning goal. What makes it more realistic is that Dembele also has an unboosted OTW item, something EA could look to utilize.

Joshua King- ST - OVR 78 Bournemouth stunned Chelsea by the scoreline of four goals to nil when they hosted them on Wednesday, and although there is no clear cut IF from the match, I would be shocked if we were not to see one. King is seemingly the best bet after he scored twice and assisted another, but with Brooks picking up MOTM, there are doubts surrounding this selection.

Douglas - GK - OVR 76 There were a few ways I could have gone with this one but in the end, I gave even more love to the Portuguese league. Douglas was vital in keeping a clean sheet for Guimaraes in their 0-0 draw with Porto, making five saves to keep the scores level.

Ruben Dias - CB - OVR 78 With Benfica playing two games, it gave the opportunity for two IFs to come, one being from each match. The defender scored once in their 4-2 away win over Sporting, claiming the joint highest match rating in the process.

Canales - CB - OVR 79 I could have easily ignored the Spanish leagues this week, but realistically they will get at least two. One of those is Canales, who scored the only goal of the game as Betis shocked Atletico Madrid to a 1-0 win.

Konstantinos Fortounis - CAM - OVR 76 The Greek division has picked up a few snubs in recent weeks and thus I am beginning to question their eligibility. This should be the decider going forward after Fortounis found the net on three occasions from CAM in Olympiakos's 4-0 home win.

Alfreo Finnbogason - ST - OVR 78 Bundesliga's player of the week came with Finnbogason after the Augsburg striker scored all three of their goals in a 3-0 win over Mainz. There was a lot of competition for strikers this week, but I would say Finnbogason is right up there.

Luuk De Jong - ST - OVR 78 It was yet another week of high scoring games in the top tier of the Netherlands with multiple sides scoring four or more. It was always likely that one of those would result in an IF and with De Jong scoring three goals and picking up player of the week he becomes the obvious choice.

Aleksandar Mitrovic - ST - OVR 76 Mitrovic managed both his ninth and tenth goals of the season during an enthralling 4-2 win for Fulham when they hosted Brighton. Alongside his two goals, he also picked up an assist and rightfully claimed MOTM. With two sets of fixtures, this side is likely to be PL heavy, but Mitro is one of the better options.

Marlon Piedrahita - RB - OVR 71 I had never even considered the option from Colombia last week and thus I have kept an eye on the league this time around. Often when defenders score twice they find themselves picking up an IF, and with Piedrahita managing just that in his side's 3-1 home win, I am opting for the Colombian to make his way into the side.

Mislav Orsic - LM - OVR 72 Since the introduction of Zagreb into FUT, we have seen just the one IF received. That number is surely about to double though after Zagreb managed a 7-2 at home to Rudes from which silver midfielder, Orsic, scored three times within.

Edin Visca - RM - OVR 82 With the reserves not having many clear cut options, I opted to play the margins game and include another gold option in Visca. The Bosnian was the best option from Turkey after picking up all three assists for Basaksehir in their 3-0 away win. It could have been even better had he not have been denied by the woodwork too.

Sven Michel - ST - OVR 70 Player of the week in Germany's second division inevitably went the way of Sven Michel after the German was involved in four of Paderborn's goals with both two goals and two assists. With only two hat tricks outside of the gold options, I would be surprised to see Michel miss out.

Ricky Van Wolfswinkel - ST - OVR 74 Usually I am happy when hat tricks come in the form of gold options. But with so many performing this week, the fact RVW is now silver is actually a relief. Once again, the IF comes as a result of a hat trick with RVW scoring three of Basel's four goals in their 4-0 away win.
