FIFA 19 Team of the Week 8 Predictions

Last week's score: 12/23
Formation: 3-4-1-2
Squad Link:

Marcelo Barovero - GK - OVR 78 Once again, I struggled with the keepers and it seems to have become a reoccurring sequence. Barovero was eventually the man I settled on after his seven saves ensures his clean sheet in Monterrey’s 2-0 home win.

Ben Chilwell - LB - OVR 76 With defensive options few and far between Chilwell is actually one of the better options with his assist and clean sheet from LB. The English defender picked up MOTM from every source I use as Leicester went on to beat Cardiff 1-0.

Alessio Romagnoli - CB - OVR 82 It looked as though AC Milan were going to be held to a 0-0 draw with Udinese but in the 96th minute it was an unlikely face who scored the winner, with Romagnoli getting himself on the scoresheet. He was awarded MOTM for doing so and with a lack of defensive options that will surely be enough for him.

Sergio Ramos - CB - OVR 91 You could easily say that a penalty and a clean sheet is not enough for Ramos to be included and usually I would agree with you but with almost no options from Spain coming our way there was always going to be a cheap inclusion or two. I believe that Ramos will be one of those cheap inclusions and I'm sure nobody will complain if he does get the nod.

Felipe Anderson - LM - OVR 82 Only 8 weeks in and Anderson looks set to reward those OTW investors with his second IF, making him one of the better players in the Premier League this season in terms of FUT. The Brazilian scored twice and hit the woodwork to deny that hat trick during West Ham's 4-2 win over Burnley.

Joao Mario - CM - OVR 81 There were a few high scoring matches in Italy and one of those came with Inter managing a 5-0 home win over Genoa, there are a couple of IF options with Gagliardini narrowly missing out for his brace. Mario looks set to be the man to receive the IF after a goal and two assists saw him claim an 8 from Gazzetta.

Manuel Fernandes - LM - OVR 81 There are still several rumors around the RPL IFs but with Lokomotiv already picking up an IF with Howedes it looks as though they have the rights for them. I am predicting another IF to come from them on Wednesday with Manuel Fernandes picking up two assists from LM in their 3-1 win over Arsenal Tula.

Raheem Sterling - RW - OVR 85 With the news of another KDB injury hitting City it could have easily been something which affected them, but they went about business as usual, hammering Southampton 6-1. Sterling scored two and assisted another two of those goals as he continues his good form as of late.

Dries Mertens - ST - OVR 87 Napoli ran away as 5-1 winners while hosting Empoli this weekend and from that match we have a clear IF candidate and what an item it will be at that. Mertens scored three of those goals and assisted another while playing in a ST role. He claimed POTW in Italy if there was any doubt whatsoever.

Timo Werner - ST - OVR 83 Now that the SIFs are in full force players will be picking them up on a regular basis. Werner looks set to be in the latest batch after he added another two to his tally during Leipzig's 3-0 away win over Hertha Berlin.

Morata - ST - OVR 83 Ending a very attractive front three is Morata. The Spaniard has been very hit and miss for Chelsea so far but when he’s on form he is one of the best strikers in the division. His brace helped Chelsea to a 3-1 win over Palace with Pedro being another option with both a goal and assist.

Yassine Bounou - GK - OVR 77 When it came to keepers this week there was only one which stood out as a clear candidate and that was Bounou. The Girona stopper was pivotal in Girona's shock 1-0 win away at Valencia making a total of nine saves to keep his clean sheet intact.

Christian Gunter - LB - OVR 75 Freiburg were the latest side to take points from Bayern Munich with a 1-1 draw coming their way. Although there was no clear cut IF option Gunter does stand a chance after picking up MOTM for his contribution of an assist in said match.

Thorgan Hazard - RM- OVR 81 Hazard potentially wrongfully missed out in a previous week this FIFA but once again he is in line for that first IF. This time it comes after he scored twice from RM in Gladbach's 3-0 win. He claimed the outright MOTM award with a 2 being awarded from Kicker.

Gaetan Laborde - CAM - OVR 75 Ligue 1 was difficult to select from this week with the majority of players being silver items and thus having less chance of making the eventual side. The fact Laborde was gold only increases his chances of being selected after he scored twice and claimed an 8/10 for Montpellier.

Richarlison - ST - OVR 77 The second Premier league OTW item set for a boost is Richarlison. With the Brazilian now playing in a ST role for Everton I expect his OTW item to be boosted several times this season. The first of which is likely to come on Wednesday after scoring twice in Everton’s 3-1 win over Brighton.

Eder - ST - OVR 79 Although I have only previously predicted Eder once he has been there or there about time and time again. He makes the cut for me again after another two goals and one assist came the Italians way. There’s only so much Eder can do before his IF and with six goals and two assists from his last 4 matches he must be noticed soon.

Andrea Belotti - ST - OVR 82 Torino have 3 realistic options from their 4-1 win over Sampdoria with Sirigu, who saved a pen and De Silvestri, who picked up an assist, both narrowly missing out. Instead we have Belotti of whom scored twice and assisted another, picking up an 8/10 in the process.

Mario Leitgeb - CDM - OVR 63 We have seen some bizarre decisions in the reserves section from EA in past weeks with players that really shouldn’t miss out, missing out. When it comes to predicting though you simply can't ignore the hat tricks as they really should be included. Especially while playing from a CDM role. That is what Leitgeb managed during Wolfsberger’s 3-2 away win.

Victor Guzman - CM - OVR 72 Unfortunately for Jara due to what seems to be a one IF per game basis his two goals and two assists is set to be ignored. That is because of the simply sublime performance from Guzman which saw the central midfielder score four goals in Pachuca's 6-2 home win.

Arsenio - RM - OVR 69 There were a few players competing for this spot but in the end, I decided to give it to Arsenio due to the quality of opposition faced with Moreirense managing to beat Benfica 3-1. Arsenio assisted all three of those goals, picking up MOTM in the process.

Joelinton - ST - OVR 69 With the past few weeks providing multiple hat tricks I would have ignored Joelinton but with a lack of them occurring this week it leaves the door open for the Bundesliga POTW after his brace in Hoffenheim’s 4-1 win over Leverkusen saw him being awarded a perfect 1.

Manuel Schaffler - ST - OVR 70 The second player of whom scored four goals this week is Schaffler. The Wehen strikers goals came as they went on a rampage, destroying Fortuna Koln 7-0.
