FIFA 18 Team of the Week 31 Predictions

Last week's score: 15/23
Formation: 3-4-1-2
Squad Link:

Stephane Ruffier - GK - OVR 85 St Etienne played out a narrow 1-0 away win over Strasbourg and once again it was Debuchy on the scoresheet. Due to his recent in-form I believe he will be ruled out but regardless of that it was Ruffier who picked up MOTM with an 8/10 from L'Equipe. The French stopper, who could be picking up his third IF of the season made six saves to keep his clean sheet, helping Etienne to all three points.

Vincent Kompany - CB - OVR 85 Although there was no clear candidate from City after securing the title via a 3-1 win against Spurs I expect there to be someone including as to who that could be is very in the air. I believe it will be either KDB, Kompany or Sterling. I have opted for Kompany as he realistically fits the side. The Belgian supplied the assist on one of the three goals and was solid at the back.

Naldo - CB - OVR 84 I can only imagine what a TOTS Naldo would look like and that's before a potential TIF appears which could well be on the way. The giant Brazilian scored another goal this weekend helping to secure Schalke's 2-0 win over Dortmund. He is not the only option from this match but with him picking up MOTM he is the player I expect to see.

Mariano - RB - OVR 79 Galatasaray climbed to the top of the table with a vital 2-0 win over Basaksehir. Mariano scored one of those goals helping to secure the win. With not many defensive options present alongside the importance of this game I can't see Mariano being snubbed again.

Douglas Costa - LM - OVR 83 Juventus took a six point lead thanks to a 3-0 win over Sampdoria with a Ones To Watch item looking set to pick up an upgrade due to it. Douglas Costa who will make a great IF, picked up all three of the assists and thus claimed MOTM with an 8/10 from Gazzetta. Höwedes also picked up a goal but with a low match rating I can't see him being included as well.

Isco - CM - OVR 86 With both a lack of big name players and La Liga options it makes sense to select Isco who fits into both those slots. He was among the best performers in the division this week scoring one and assisting another in Madrids narrow win.

Coutinho - RM - OVR 87 Continuing that theme I now have Coutinho selected with the additional bonus that he is a OTW item. The Brazilian picked up two assists in Barcelona's 2-1 win over Valencia picking up a perfect three stars from MARCA in the process. The same applies from Isco as to why his chances are increased.

Angel Di Maria - RW - OVR 85 I think most people predicted PSG to win at home to Monaco but I doubt anyone thought quite so convincingly. The now French champions recorded a superb 7-1 home win with several players now in contention for an IF. Di Maria is one I expect to make the cut after he scored two of those seven, claiming the joint highest rating for doing so. Will he be the only one I'm not sure.

Sandro Wagner - ST - OVR 79 Now that Munich have officially won the title we see them fielding some interesting sides with many of the main names given a rest, especially with them still featuring in the Champions League. Even under those circumstances they win with ease though, recording a 5-1 win over Gladbach. Wagner looks to be the best option of an IF after picking up a perfect 1 rating from Kicker for his brace.

Wilfried Zaha - ST - OVR 82 With another shooting upgrade likely on the way Zaha could become a very popular item in FUT with his pace, skills and now shooting being added to the mix. He gets the nod for adding another two goals to his tally as Palace edged a five goal thriller with Brigton.

Oliver Giroud - ST - OVR 82 There were huge question marks surrounding the signing of Giroud, especially when you consider that Batshuayi was still at the club. Whether it was the right or wrong decision is hugely up for debate with Batshuayi currently performing well in the Bundesliga but as for Giroud he has started life strongly. Although he will probably never be a regular first team starter he plays a role in the side. His two goals this week turned out to be vital with Chelsea coming from 2-1 behind to win 3-2 late on against Southampton.

Gianluigi Donnarumma - GK - OVR 82 AC Milan held Napoli to a 0-0 draw this weekend which all but confirms that Napoli will not be champions at the end of the season. This particular result has a lot to do with the talented keeper in Donnarumma, who made several top class saves to keep the scores level. He was later awarded with a huge 8/10 from Gazzetta which should be enough for the youngster to pick up an 86-rated IF.

Jonas Svensson - RB - OVR 75 The fact that Svensson received a winter upgrade from a silver to a gold item on FUT helps his cause significantly this week. The AZ defender has narrowly missed out on several occasions this season but with two assists and a clean sheet to his name I feel that this is finally the week we see him pick up an IF.

Bryan Linssen - LW - OVR 71 It's rare that you will see multiple Eredivisie players in a single week but with Vitesse scoring seven goals they become very difficult to ignore. Especially when Linssen with two goals and an assist is a very realistic option in midfield.

Giovani Lo Celso - CM - OVR 75 I mentioned that we could see another PSG player and thats exactly what I am going for. Celso is another from the long list of candidates they provided. The Argentine midfielder scored two of the previously mentioned seven goals and also picked up an 8/10 from L'Equipe

Kevin Volland - ST - OVR 80 Volland picked up player of the week after his hat trick helped secure Leverkusen a vital three points in their chase for Champions League football, helped by both Dortmund and Leipzig dropping points.

Nicolas Castillo - ST - OVR 76 I doubt that many FUT players will be using Castillo due to both his league and nationality but he looks set to become part of the elite group of players with a 90+ shooting stat. This comes after the UNAM striker bagged another hat trick to increase his personal tally this season, durin UNAM's 4-2 win.

Omar Kharbin - ST - OVR 77 The fact that Kharbin is a gold item on FUT goes a long way in helping his cause for an IF this week. He is one of only a handful of Syrian options in the game but thankfully another is Al Soma, who also plays in the Saudi league and also has a very usable SBC item, so after Kharbin baggged a hat trick for his side on Thursday there is now an IF strong link option.

Luis Ardente - GK - OVR 72 It's not rare for Ardente to score from the spot with him being the regular penalty taker and I usually ignore him because of it. There was a huge difference this time though, not only did he score a penalty but he also saved one at the other end, keeping a clean sheet in the process. I can't recall of a situation similar to this one before and thus I expect him to make it on Wednesday.

Cristian Lema - CB - OVR 66 Another from the Argentine league now, I have missed a couple of reserve defenders recently and don't want the trend to continue and thus I have opted to go with Lema who scored twice from the back and kept a clean sheet. Despite it being a second from the Argentine league both really deserve a spot in the side.

Riley McGree - CDM - OVR 62 Several teams found the net a lot of times over the weekend with Newcastle Jets finding themselves an impressive eight goals. McGree scored three of those while assisting another making him one of the easier selections this week.

Hamdi Harbaoui - ST - OVR 72 Talking of easy players to select Harbaoui also falls into that category after finding the back of the net on four occasions during Wargem's 5-1 win. It may be early days but Waregem's Europa league bid has started off well, with them leading the early table.

Marcus Pedersen - ST - OVR 68 For the first time in a while there was not an overload of hat tricks coming my way. Due to that those that achieved three goals easily slot into the side. Pedersen's three came in a 3-0 win at home to Odd.
