FIFA 18 Team of the Week 17 Predictions

Last week's score: 16/23
Formation: 3-4-1-2

Salvatore Sirigu - GK - OVR 79 Sirigu is having quite the season, having already picked up two IFss he could be set to make it three. The 30-year-old stopper saved a penalty to ensure Torino kept a clean sheet in their 3-0 win over Bologna. Both Iago and Silvestre are also valid options rom that game. I fully expect to see at least one.

Leonardo Bonucci - CB - OVR 88 At first, I was a little hesitant when it came to predict Bonucci, largely down to the fact he is likely to pick up a TOTY item. It looks as though there is time between this week’s TOTW and TOTY itself now though and thus Bonucci becomes a possibility again. The Italian scored the only goal of the game in Milan's 1-0 win.

Kalidou Koulibaly - CB - OVR 84 Koulibaly has often been a player I have almost selected for TOTW but has never quite done enough. It finally looks as though it will be his week after he opened the score for Napoli in their 2-0 win over Verona.

Jordi Alba - LB - OVR 85 Yet another punt on the defensive side of things now with Alba. The Barcelona defender picked up one of the assists in their comfortable 3-0 home win over Levante. Messi was yet again MOTM but realistically he won't get one for a goal and an assist and thus Alba is the next best thing.

Christian Tello - LM - OVR 77 Despite Betis's eight goal thriller of which they came out on top as 5-3 winners there is no clear-cut option from the match. Several defenders from both sides contributed however I am opting for Tello who came off the bench to score one and assist another to close out the match

Ivan Radovanovic - CM - OVR 77 The fact that I am even predicting a CM for a goal in a 1-1 draw shows how difficult it was to make a prediction this week but seeing as though Radovanovic was one of the higher scorers in Italy this week with a 7.5 he stands out from the crowd.

Pedro Obiang - CM - OVR 77 Talking of midfielders with one goal in a 1-1 draw, we have another now with Obiang. The huge difference being that it came against a big side in Spurs. Obiang picked up MOTM for his performance and is one of two West Ham players I have selected this week.

Daniel Wass - RM - OVR 80 Wass is in line for a SIF this week but unfortunately should he make the cut he will be out wide. He was heavily involved in Vigo's 2-2 draw with Real Madrid picking up both a goal and as assist. Aspas picked up MOTM from the game but with just an assist to go alongside a missed penalty I can't justify a TIF for him.

Bas Dost - ST - OVR 83 The first of two Sporting Lisbon players to make the cut from their 5-0 win at home to Maritimo is the usual face of Bas Dost. The Dutch striker scored three of those five goals, picking up MOTM in the process.

Ciro Immobile - ST - OVR 82 Immobile cruises into my selection this week after scoring four goals in Lazio's 5-2 away win. He is my far the best option this week after he picked up a 9/10 from Gazzetta, adding to his already impressive tally of goals.

Gareth Bale - ST - OVR 89 Despite Madrid dropping points against Vigo I can still see them picking up an IF. That is after only a couple of big name players are available for selection and with Bale scoring two he is probably the most likely of them. There are always a few big names and with Bale being yet to pick up an IF now is probably his time.

Ivan Cuellar - GK - OVR 75 The keepers were difficult this week with no clear-cut options and thus I have taken a couple of punts. Cuellar is one of those punts after he made five saves in Leganes's 1-0 win over Real Sociedad. He was awarded three stars from Marca which often sees them included in the following TOTW.

Etxeita - CB - OVR 78 To end what was a difficult defense to predict we have Bilbao's Etxeita, who scored one of their two goals in a 2-0 win. The defender only claimed a 2 star from Marca but with limited options a goal and a clean sheet should go a long way.

Moussa Marega - RW - OVR 77 Despite being behind for parts of the match Porto did manage to come away with three points courtesy of a 4-2 win. Marega scored half of those goals, picking up MOTM in the process. ST or RW I believe he will make the final side.

Bruno Fernandes - CM - OVR 77 The second player from Sporting is Fernandes, although he is not as clear cut as Dost and we rarely see two Liga Portuguese players let alone two from the same side I can see it happening due to the lack of games. Fernandes provided the assist on both the second and third Lisbon goals.

Luis Alberto - CF - OVR 77 The second Lazio player this week after their previously mentioned 5-2 win is Luis Alberto. Although he is far from clear cut like Immobile, with an 8/10 from Gazzetta linked with a sheer lack of games to pick from his chances are quite high in my eyes. He could be either CAM, CF or ST but with EA giving him a CF last time out I would suggest that’s a strong indication.

Andy Carroll - ST - OVR 78 For those poor players that spent their time crossing the ball to try and pick up Christmas Carroll over the festive period it looks set to become a pointless task after he is likely to pick up an IF on Wednesday. The aerial threat scored both of West Ham's goals as they got back to winning ways with a 2-1 win over WBA.

Nicolas Castillo - ST - OVR 76 It looked as though it was going to be a disappointing start to the season for UNAM who found themselves two goals down late in the first half but a Castillo brace either side of a Gallardo goal allowed them to come away with three points, putting them top of the table for the meantime.

Ryan Sessegnon - LB - OVR 66 Not a prediction I enjoy making with the player in question playing against Ipswich but what can you do. Ipswich fell apart in the space of seven minutes, leading by a goal until the 69th minute before finding themselves 4-1 down after 76 minutes. What’s quite remarkable about that period is that Fulham's LB, Sessegnon scored twice and assisted another in that time frame.

Joao Novais - RM - OVR 62 Yet another Portuguese league player I have selected now after Novais put in an impressive shift during Rio Ave's 4-2 home win. He did play out wide which with his 67 pace is obviously a delight for FUT fans but with two goals to his name we could well see him included on Wednesday.

Djaniny - RM - OVR 74 Djaniny was a late addition to the side after finding a hat trick during Monday's fixtures for Santos Laguna with them comfortably beating Lobos 4-2 at home.

Ross McCormack - ST - OVR 73 The competition was not there this week and that is shown with what was needed to make the reserves this week, especially as usually it's something special. McCormack, who is now playing in Australia scored twice for his side to claim his spot.

Massimo Coda - ST - OVR 71 Yet another from the Italian divisions to end the prediction after Coda scored twice and assisted another to help Benevento to just their second win and seventh point of the season, with back to back wins under their name some momentum would be perfect for them.
