FUT 19 Champions Cup Atlanta: Tekkz starts hot again

Donovan "F2TeKkz" Hunt, the top-ranked FIFA player in the world, continued his dominance over the FUT 19 competitive cycle as he posted yet another perfect Day 1 record in the ELEAGUE FUT Champions Cup February, which kicked off Friday morning.

After four rounds, the names atop the Xbox One standings were not unfamiliar to those have kept up with the competitive circuit. Hunt was accompanied by Michael "Vfl Megabit" Bittner, a former Xbox finalist from last May, his fellow German compatriot BMG Phenomeno, and the North American competitor itsDoofman.

Due to technical difficulties, only the first three Swiss rounds were played on the PlayStation side. Round 4 will be played tomorrow. Nicolas "nicolas99fc" Villalba, the Argentine who has steadily earned himself the frontrunner title, was one of four PS4 players that came out of Day 1 unscathed. The other three names to make such an impressive mark on the standings after the first day were relative newcomers, as has been the case in past tournaments.

The most exciting matchup of the day, without a doubt, came in the second round on the Xbox. Lukas "Sakul" Vonderheide had taken an uncharacteristic 4-1 lead over Hunt within the first 90 minutes, but a flurry of goals in the second leg turned the tide in favor of the 17-year-old prodigy. The Devon, UK native took a 7-6 aggregate lead, jumping out to a 6-2 lead; however, his opponent would pull one back two more times before Hunt quashed any hope of extra-time, with a beautiful 90th minute tally from Kylian Mbappé.

Bittner, another Xbox favorite coming into the competition, exorcised his past penalty demons with a rousing victory over Felipe Abd in the second round. The German was tied 2-2 on aggregate with his Brazilian opponent before playing a scoreless extra time and heading to penalties. The shootout, which ended in Bittner's favor in hectic fashion, could prove to be an important mental hurdle to have conquered for the ensuing rounds.

After battling illness in last month's tournament in Bucharest, Aldossary "Msdossary" Mosaad came back with a vengeance, following the Xbox frontrunners closely behind with a 3-1 record. The former Saudi Arabian champion posted 24 goals to his name, including 11 against Exraa CA in the third round, leading all competitors on the Xbox side.

The festivities will return Saturday morning at 10 a.m. ET with the rest of the Swiss rounds, and the start of the knockout stages. You can follow all the action on Futhead's homepage, or on the ELEAGUE TV Twitch channel.
