FIFA Mobile 18 Matchups Predictions: World Cup Group Stage P3 Part 1, 25 June-26 June

The business end of the Group Stage is upon us, and with many of the groups still wide open, there is going to be a lot of interest and stress for fans of from all over the world as we head into Matchday 3. Here's a look at the first eight games and how we think they might play out.

Saudi Arabia v Egypt

Saudi Arabia have been the whipping boys of their group so far, so they will be hoping to get some sort of dignity back as they make their exit from the tournament. With eight goals conceded so far and none scored, one goal could be enough to see them head home in complete embarrassment.

Egypt’s elimination is rumoured to have caused big rifts in the squad, with some reports saying star Mohamed Salah could be heading back to Liverpool early and skipping their final game. He may still not be fully fit, but in their 3-1 loss to Russia it was evident how important he was to them, adding an extra something in attack.

Egypt have looked a bit more convincing in their performances thus far, and I expect them to win this game, with or without Salah.

My Prediction: Egypt win

Match played: Monday 25th, 3:00 p.m. (BST) / 10:00 a.m. (EST)

Uruguay v Russia

This is a very tough game to predict, with Uruguay’s solid defence battling against Russia’s free scoring attack.

Uruguay seem to have mastered the art of just doing enough to get the win, with consecutive 1-0 wins seeing them qualify for the knockout stage with a game to spare. Suarez and Cavani have looked far from convincing so far, and will need to step up their game if they are to make good progress and aim to win their third World Cup.

Russia seem to have surprised everyone so far, with two convincing wins showing they are more than capable of competing at a high level. Star-man Cheryshev has become the posterboy for the hosts, while giant striker Dzyuba’s reputation for being difficult to work with doesn’t seem to be showing just now.

I'm going with a draw for this one, but if I had to pick a winner then I feel like Russia may be the more likely of the two.

My Prediction: Draw

Match played: Monday 25th, 3:00 p.m. (BST) / 10:00 a.m. (EST)

Iran v Portugal

Iran know that a win guarantees their progression, most likely at the expense of Portugal. They sit one point behind Spain and Portugal on three points, thanks to a narrow 1-0 win over Morocco on the opening matchday.

After scoring only once in his three previous appearances at the World Cup, Ronaldo has finally managed to carry over his league form to the World Cup, scoring all four of Portugal’s goals so far, and one in the fourth minute of both games so far.

I expect Portugal to cruise to victory in this game, with Ronaldo adding a couple to his goal tally.

My Prediction: Portugal win

Match played: Monday 25th, 7:00 p.m. (BST) / 2:00 p.m. (EST)

Spain v Morocco

Diego Costa has started to find good form once again, getting one in each of their first two games as he helps Spain up to 4 points. They may not have looked as good as they did back in 2010, but with the way some other big nations have been performing, you wouldn’t write them off to win the full tournament.

Morocco have been quite unlucky so far, losing to a 95th minute own goal against Iran and keeping Ronaldo’s chances fairly limited as they lost to Portugal. However, they have been eliminated already and will simply be hoping to restore some dignity as they head home.

Spain are clear favourites here, and know that it may come down to who can score more out of them and Portugal on the final matchday to determine who tops the group and who is runner up.

My Prediction: Spain win

Match played: Monday 25th, 7:00 p.m. (BST) / 2:00 p.m. (EST)

Australia v Peru

Australia will be hoping to make it out of the Group Stage for only the second time in their history as they face off against the already eliminated Peru. The Socceroos need to win and hope that France beat Denmark in order for them to progress, and they will no doubt be aiming to maximise their chances and get a big win over a tough Peru side. However, they are yet to score from open play, with both of their goals coming from the penalty spot.

Peru have suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat in both of their games so far, and find themselves playing for pride in this final game. A win will see them finish above the Australians, but I feel like they will be happy simply to go out having scored at least one goal.

This is a tough one to call, but I feel like Peru’s motivation to give their fans something positive will cancel out with Australia’s determination to get three vital points to push Denmark close for second spot. I’m going with a draw for this one, but waiting to see how the two sides start may be a good strategy to see how they look.

My Prediction: Draw

Match played: Tuesday 26th, 3:00 p.m. (BST) / 10:00 A.m. (EST)

Denmark v France

Denmark know that a draw will be enough for them to progress, while a win will see them top the group. However, they will have to do it without Poulsen, who is suspended after gave away a penalty in both their opening games and received a booking on both occasions.

France know that a point is enough for them to top the group, but that may lead to a tie against Argentina in the round of 16 depending on results in Group D later that day. No doubt they will be gunning for another three points, to be one of only a few teams to win all three Group Stage games. However, they haven’t exactly put in convincing performances, and with Denmark’s experience and creativity in Eriksen, they face their toughest challenge yet.

France are favourites for this one, and I feel like they will win this one. But I wouldn’t write off Denmark, who will be pushing to try and guarantee their place in the next round.

My Prediction: France win

Match played: Tuesday 26th, 3:00 p.m. (BST) / 10:00 a.m. (EST)

Nigeria v Argentina

Nigeria find themselves in second place in the group after a 2-0 win over Iceland last Friday. They will be high on confidence and aiming to reach the knockout stages for the second time as the row, and drawing this game could be enough to progress.

Argentina have, quite simply, been awful this tournament. Rumours of discontent and the players turning on Sampaoli see the South American giants in disarray, and in need of a huge result to progress past the Group Stage. They last failed to make it out the groups back in 2002, when they struggled and finished behind Sweden and England, scoring just twice in that tournament.

Argentina need to win this game, and I feel like they should be able to win this game, so that’s what I’m predicting. However, I have said that in both of their previous games and been completely wrong. I’d recommend watching and waiting for this game to start, seeing how both teams perform before making a selection.

My Prediction: Argentina win

Match played: Tuesday 26th, 7:00 p.m. (BST) / 2:00 p.m. (EST)

Iceland v Croatia

Both teams managed to pick up points against Argentina, with Croatia’s 3-0 win over Messi and Co. showing they are not to be underrated, and Iceland reminding everyone why they were so difficult to beat two years ago.

Iceland need a win to be in with a chance of progressing, after losing 2-0 to Nigeria. They showed what they are capable of in their opener against Argentina, and need to produce a similar performance to be in with a chance of matching their performance at EURO 2016 and making it to the quarter finals.

Croatia’s 3-0 win over Argentina came as a shock to some, with their midfield quality proving too much for Argentina’s weak defence and taking full advantage of a shocking display from Caballero.

Croatia need a point to ensure that they avoid France in the next round, while Iceland need three to be in with a chance of progressing. I think this one is Croatia’s for the winning, unless they choose to rest a few of their bigger names in preparation for the last 16.

My Prediction: Croatia win
