EA's continued rolling out the "FIFA 20" announcements with a big one Monday evening: Didier Drogba is returning to FUT, and for the first time ever as an Icon.
Bookending a 20 year senior level playing career with a stint in the second level of the US' footballing pyramid, Drogba capped his playing days with five league titles across two leagues, eight league cups or equivalent, and that historic 2011/2012 Champions League crown. He was named to the FIFPro World XI (which used to directly determine FIFA's Team of the Year) back in 2007.
Those too young to have seen Drogba play anywhere but YouTube missed out on one of the nastier finishers of his generation. While his highest ever rated FIFA player item was a 91 all the way back near the beginning in FUT 10, his 89 FIFA 11 in-form was particularly filthy with 87 Pace, 90 Shooting, and 94 Heading.
Assuming Icons work similarly to as they do in FIFA 19, his three (or more?) versions should all offer something for different level of players. This amongst all the new Icons announced so far surely has to be one of the more appetizing.
In their tweet announcing the news, EA also revealed that tomorrow's third and final cover (the Ultimate Edition version) would be revealed tomorrow (Zidane?) along with reemphasizing that Wednesday would see a big FUT 20 announcment.
What all are you still hoping to see?
